If you go during the summer months, it’s best to go early or look for an alternative because it’s almost impossible to walk between the number of umbrellas and towels.

With many hotels nearby, it’s a popular choice, offering all kinds of amenities: sunbeds, umbrellas, water sports, and even Wi-Fi. However, renting a sunbed is necessary to access the Wi-Fi.

Leaving aside the beaches of Ayia Napa, we couldn’t forget the spectacular Blue Lagoon. This blue paradise is located on the Akamas Peninsula in the northwest of the island. Although it’s a bit more inaccessible than the beaches we’ve seen so far, it’s worth visiting because it’s stunning. You can probably imagine why it’s called Blue Lagoon, right? It couldn’t have a better name, as the water color is a beautiful blue!

It’s not exactly a beach but rather a bathing area. When you’re there, you won’t believe the water can have such a color. It’s gorgeous!

The best way to get there is by taking a delightful boat excursion that includes onboard meals. Each boat has a designated area for passengers to swim. You can also reach it by car, but you’ll need a 4×4 because the dirt track leading there is very rough.

Makronissos Beach, One of Our Favorites

This beach is located just 5 kilometers from the center of Ayia Napa. Alongside Nissi and Landa, it’s one of the most well-known beaches in the area. We call Makronissos a beach, but it’s actually three small bays with crystal-clear waters. The smallest bay is the calmest, although it’s less convenient for swimming.

Like most of Cyprus’ best beaches, it’s also very family-friendly. Cyprus is indeed an ideal destination for families.

Coral Bay, a Gem on Cyprus’ West Coast

The west coast of Cyprus is less famous than the Ayia Napa area but equally attractive. And this beach is a good reason to visit! Especially if you’re traveling with children, as it’s a great family-friendly option with shallow, gently waving waters. It’s about a 20-minute drive from Paphos, the tourist hub of the area.

The beach is quite extensive. While it can get crowded and the water color isn’t as transparent as other top beaches in Cyprus, it offers a relatively tranquil experience compared to the more popular spots.

Lara Bay, a Deserted Beach

If you’re in the mood for a day at the beach in complete tranquility, we recommend Lara Bay. It’s a small bay on the Akamas Peninsula that’s challenging to access. In fact, a 4×4 vehicle is recommended due to the rough condition of the road. Once there, it’s a completely wild beach. Your only neighbors are likely to be birds, turtles that inhabit this beach, and goats roaming the surrounding hills. That’s why it’s a protected area.

There are no shaded areas, so it’s advisable to bring an umbrella. During peak season, there’s a small beach bar nearby, but make sure to bring enough drinks and food because it may not always be open.

Yiannakis Beach, Near Aphrodite’s Baths
